Best Student Photos of 2019

Overview

The New Year is always a time to look back on the highlights from the passing year. So my team and I sat down to find our very favorite student photos from 2019.

And I’ve gotta tell you, it was no easy task!

We agonized over our decisions because we had so many amazing photos to choose from. We narrowed the field down to just 12, one for each month of the year.

Emotion packed portraits, incredible landscapes, jaw-dropping wildlife photos, and thrilling action shots are all represented here.

I am incredibly proud of these students and in awe of their progress!

I can’t wait to show you our favorites from 2019!

Portraits

A good portrait tells a moving story about their subject in a single frame. Portraits aren’t just about capturing a technically correct photo. Portraits reveal who their subject is at a specific moment in time – in a way they may not even recognize about themselves.

Packed with emotion and beauty, these gorgeous student portraits do not disappoint.

Wildlife

Wildlife photography is a specialty for only the most patient of all photographers. It’s common for wildlife photographers to spend hours, even months or years attempting to capture a perfect image of an unpredictable subject. They put themselves at the mercy of the elements, braving heat and cold in pursuit of that one perfect shot.

Macro

Macro photography opens the door to fine details unable to be seen with the naked eye. Much like wildlife photography, capturing plants, insects and small animals in infinite detail takes patience and true camera mastery.

Action

Action shots are all about the timing – being in the right place at the right time. An action photographer almost needs a ‘second sense’ about what’s going to happen next as the scene unfolds before them. Not to mention, they also need fast shutter speeds for clear crisp photos.

Landscape

To the uninitiated, landscape photography might seem the easiest photography category to master. After all, landscape photographers’ subjects don’t move! But rapidly changing lighting conditions, the challenge of balancing dark foregrounds with bright skies, and knowing composition rules (and how and when to break them) makes landscape photography not for the faint of heart.
